Pursuant to the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Management (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 107/06) the liable persons are producers, acquirers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment.

The obligations of liable parties are shown in the table below:

  • WEEE labelling, after 13/8/2005 (first placement on the market in Slovenia), Article 5
  • Informing end consumers (instructions) on free disposal options, Article 21
  • Informing distributors on the methods of collection by manufacturers from distributors, Article 21
  • Visible fee, permitted indication of management costs, since 13/8/2005, Articles 6 and 37

DISPOSAL AND COLLECTION

of waste EE equipment

  • WEEE collection from the distributor, Article 10
  • Free-of-charge WEEE collection from the distributor (who provides for WEEE disposal at the collection facility of the liable party, i.e. producer)
  • Producer/acquirer provides a collection facility not more than 30 km from the distributor (their own collection facilities)
  • WEEE collection from local public service providers, Article 11,
  • Regular and free-of-charge WEEE collection from local public service providers
  • To agree on the method and terms of WEEE collection in the entire territory of
    Slovenia
  • To encourage end users, distributors and local public service providers to
    collect for the attainment of shares, Article 13 (in accordance with the annual
    operation plan of VO)

WEEE RECOVERY

  • To provide for recovery in appropriate facilities (requirements listed in Annex 4), Article 14
  • Removal of liquids and separate treatment according to the product type (requirements listed in Annex 3), Article 14
  • Attainment of adequate shares of WEEE recovery, reuse and recycling, Article 15
  • Observance of relevant regulations regarding treatment in other countries if WEEE is disposed of outside of Slovenia, Article 15

OTHER OBLIGATIONS

  • Acquisition of an environmental permit from the appropriate Ministry for the collection and further treatment of WEEE, Article 16
  • WEEE management plan (type of EE equipment, collection and take-back (end users, distributors and local public service providers):
    Annexes (Agreements with contractors for all phases of treatment, financial guarantee for one-year period)
    Validity: for a certain time period, category or several categories and an annual amount

REPORTING ON WEEE MANAGEMENT

  • Report on WEEE management in the previous year, Article 31
  • Report on placement of EEE on the market, Article 34, Article 3
