Completion of the project, but continuation of proper management of e-waste and waste batteries

At ZEOS, we are proud for a reason! We successfully completed our five-year long Life project e-waste governance with the slogan E-cycle, which we implemented between 2016 and 2020.

The project was co-financed by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Commission and focused on users intensive and continuous informing about the need to properly dispose e-equipment and batteries when they are used up.

As part of the project, together with stakeholders (local public waste management services, e-equipment retailers, e-equipment manufacturers, municipalities, ambassadors - celebrities, NGOs, waste management schemes, Life and other projects and the legislator) we established a consumer-friendly e-waste and waste battery collection network. We installed 730 street containers on selected waste bin areas and other locations throughout Slovenia, 71 green corners in larger technical stores, and we carried out mobile collections in the countryside. Through various events and campaigns, we have introduced new possibilities for this type of waste to the population of Slovenia (households, consumers and users of e-equipment, educational institutions and the general and international public), and we will continue to expand the network after the project is completed. On the stariaparati.si website, everyone can find the closest location for e-waste and waste batteries and thus join our successful story and do something for the environment.

Compared to the year 2015 we recorded as much as 36.9 percent growth in the amount of collected e-waste in 2019, while in terms of the structure of collected e-waste the most intensive growth was recorded in waste small appliances, namely as much as 48.8 percent. We can be justifiably proud of the results achieved, as they place us above the European average.
